Despite the club’s blatant refusal to offer Dani Alves a contract extension, Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique has insisted that his confidence in the right back is unwavering. The Brazilian’s ex-wife and agent had expressed disgust with the way the Catalan club handled her clients future plans but the manager on seeing Sergio Busquets pen down a new deal which could see him remain at the club for another five years, he chose to heap praises on Alves even as his stay at the club seems to be winding up hastily.
With the full-back’s deal due to terminate in May, Enrique maintained that not much would be heard about where the player would ply his trade next season until the end of the current one. At a press conference, the Barcelona boss expressed his excitement about Busquets new deal noting that the midfielder is one of the players on the captain list at the club and getting him to commit his long term future to the club is a huge win.
Concerning Dani Alves, Enrique highlighted the fact that the Brazilian is a constant member of his line-up as a pointer to how important he is to the team. He however added that the final say lies with the management to decide if the Brazilian’s services are still needed at the club after the current season. Enrique further describes Alves as one of the nicest players in the locker room and added that his winning mentality is a great plus to have on the pitch especially when things get rough out there.
He claims that the player is a true example of what every player should strive to be and coming from a man who knows both Alves’s professional and personal lives, it is obviously an opinion to be strongly considered.
